Jacqueline Parker was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Frank and Marguerite Bratcher. Jackie passed away at Research Medical Center as a result of stroke. She was 90 years young.
She attended school in Kansas City and Vallejo, California. Her father served in WWII in the Navy, and she was in the Peace Corp as a teenager to help our service men. Jackie married Elmer Parker, a returning WWII Veteran in 1947. Jackie worked at Montgomery Ward and Daisy Mfg. But most of her life Jackie was a stay at home mother raising her children and assisting with her grandchildren.
Jackie’s claim to fame was her letters to the Editor of the Kansas City Star. She wrote letters that were published from 1957 to 2013. On October 3, 2005 the Kansas City Star printed an article on Jackie called "Who Wrote That?" for her passionate letters that were published over the years.
Last year of Jackie’s life was at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, Missouri. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank Bratcher. She leaves two children Ronald Parker (Donna Parker) and Kathleen Moorman (Doug Moorman); a sister, Barbara Koconis; five grandchildren, Carmen Kimbrel, Michele Schuesller, Nicholas Martinez, Sean Moorman, and Tyler Moorman, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave, Belton, MO 64012 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. A special thanks to the ICU Unit at Research Medical Center. Contributions can be made to St. Sabina Catholic Church or Catholic Charities of Kansas City/St. Joseph Diocese in lieu of flowers.
