Helen was born on May 17th, 1920, to John P. Dooley and Lee Pinkerton. She was the eldest of five children and was preceded in death by her siblings. Helen married Dale E. Streep on July 31st, 1948; he preceded her in death on February 14, 1977. She was employed by Pacific Mutual Insurance for over 25 years. After retiring from Pacific Mutual, she worked for Robert T. Colbert, C.L.U. for ten years. Helen and Dale raised their two nieces, Mariann and Marjorie. She met Howard J. Whalen in 1981. Although they never married, they were friends and travel companions until his death on January 31st, 2000. Howard provided for Helen in his will, saying that he wanted his children to care for her. His granddaughter, Therese Whalen Lyons, and his son Steven Whalen, and Helen’s niece, Cheryl, have looked after and cared for her since Howard’s death.
Helen was an avid bowler and sunbather. She never failed to send birthday greetings to friends and family. Helen was a “Class Act.” She will be missed by all that knew her. Helen is survived by three nieces, Mariann Judson, Ft. Worth, TX, Cheryl Prince, San Diego, CA and Brenda Spencer, Richmond, MO.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17th, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
