Helen Lee Bradley Foster, 81, of Kansas City passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. Helen was born on April 23, 1932 in Warrensburg, Missouri. Helen graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1950, before relocating to Denver and then to Kansas City in 1956.
Helen was a life-long entrepreneur. Her impressively long list of business accomplishments began in the early 1960s, as the owner of a Mister Softee franchise. She later founded the Country Club Cafe on Main St. In 1968, Helen married Mark Foster. Together they co-founded a Slim Gym franchise in Kansas City. In the late 1960s, Helen founded a South American Import business and in 1973, Helen and Mark co-founded The Madison Group, an audio-visual company. In 1989, Helen started the Plaza Pre-school.
Helen was also an avid golfer. She won the Kansas State Golf Tournament in 1985. She also won the Meadowbrook Country Club championship 10 times (1983, 84, 85, 86, 87, 92, 93, 95, 96 & 97).
She spent over 20 years of her life helping non-profit organizations by delivering food and supply donations.
Helen is survived by her daughter Carletta Cronin. She is also survived by two grandsons (Riley Cronin and Bryan Cronin) and seven great-grandchildren (Darby, Mary, Corbin, Kennedy, Aidan, Teagan & Liliana).
Visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Donations in her honor may be made to Welcome House.
