At all services anyone is welcome to honor Gregg’s love of basketball by wearing a jersey/game uniform.
Gregg was born February 26, 1968 in Kirksville, MO to Janice (Sees) Hartman and was fortunate to spend countless hours with his Grandpa Dale growing up.
Gregg graduated from Kirksville High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Truman State University and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Gregg’s role as a pharmacist began in Kirksville, MO at Rider Drug. He was proud to have the opportunity to be part of a caring, family-oriented pharmacy. Gregg and Emily met at Rider Drug in January 1996 and they married on March 3, 2001.
Gregg enjoyed many hobbies but none as much as basketball. His playing career began in high school and continued in college. Once he graduated he played in tournaments, pick-up games and leagues every time the opportunity arose. While Gregg enjoyed playing, his true love was coaching. It allowed him to share with so many his love of the game and the way he lived his life. He was quiet yet strong, fiercely loyal and the most honorable coach that walked out on the court. The last moments of his life were spent with young men he admired doing what he loved the most.
Gregg is survived by his wife Emily Dittmeier Taylor, their children, Evan “ET” (13), Gavin (12), and Ryan (6); parents, Gary and Janice Hartman of Kirksville, MO; grandmother, Martha Sees of Kirksville, MO; in-laws Bill and Georgia Dittmeier; sisters-in-law, Jessica Zmijewski (Daniel), Elizabeth Goff (Jon); nieces and nephews, Luke Zmijewski, Annika Zmijewski, Phoebe Zmijewski, Juliet Zmijewski, Liam Goff and Nora Goff; step-siblings Allen Hartman (Julia), Carolyn Elgin and Sharon Hartman. He is survived by many, many athletes know as his Hoopsters. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Dale Sees.
