Gilbert Edward Tinoco, age 61, of Kansas City, Missouri, went home to our Lord surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 9th, 2023. The visitation will be on Monday, July 17th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart/Guadalupe Church with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Mt Calvary, Kansas City, KS.
Gilly, as he liked to be called, was born on April 29th, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri to Albert (Tic-Toc) and Angelina (Halo) Perez Tinoco. He was the eighth child in the family of nine. Gilly loved to play sports – whether it was volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, or softball. In his early years, he played with the Westside Brewers, Pirates, Angels, Bravos, and Aztecs. He loved his Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and the Mizzou Tigers. He enjoyed going out of town to the softball tournaments, as well as traveling to Las Vegas (NV), San Antonio (TX), Belleview (IL) to see Our Lady of the Snows, Prague (OK) to visit Infant Jesus of Prague, and Chicago (IL) to see St. Jude. Gilly was always in weddings and quinceañeras where he was the life of the party or he was always busy cooking out on the grill at family reunions. Gilly had many jobs, but the one he always came back to was Broadridge (formerly called DST) on Southwest Blvd where he met with old friends and made new ones. He was Uncle Gilly to them all.
Gilly was preceded in death by his father, Albert; mother, Angelina; sister, Gloria; and brothers, Albert, Jr. (Cynthia), Michael, and Robert. He is survived by his wife, Miceala; their son, Gilbert Jr.; his sons from a previous marriage, Edward (Myra), Francisco (Joanna), Jose (Miriam), and Salvador; his sisters, Rose and Tina; his brothers, Daniel (Lucy), and David (Sonia). Gilly also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and godchildren.
Our family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to our extended family, friends, and neighbors for their generous support through gifts, meals, and weekly visits with Gilly – he enjoyed them very much. Gilly was never a stranger, but always a friend indeed.
