Georgia Keeney

Georgia Keeney, 87, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on August 20, 2022. She fought a long hard battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and was freed from her pain, and flew to her eternal home.

She was born in Mill Grove, Missouri on February 6, 1935 and graduated from Princeton High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Ludon Keeney on August 10th, 1963. She went to work at Padgett Instruments in 1969 as a Corporate Officer, where she retired in 1995 after 26 years to care for her ill husband. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping out, bowling, gardening, rock hunting, traveling, and bird watching, especially Hummingbirds, purple martins and her favorite flying creature, butterflies. Georgia loved listening to Gaithers, Vestal Goodman, country and gospel music. She loved to play chicken foot dominoes, and assembling jigsaw puzzles with her family. She was a hard working woman. Georgia was a member of Johnson County Cowboy Church. She spent many years in service to the Church, kept books for 20+ years. Georgia served her Lord and Savior for 35+ years along with her husband, Ludon. They drove the church bus and she was the bus monitor, taught Sunday School, Children’s church, week long summer church camps, youth groups, serving the less fortunate at Christmas time, working the Santa Cali Gon fair to raise money for the children’s ministry. Her true loves were the Lord and her family. She spent vacations helping care for her children and newborn grandbabies. She helped raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She accepted all people who entered her home with love, smiles and hugs and treated them like family! In addition to love, she held the great virtues of forgiveness and didn’t judge anyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldie Orton and Elleanor Rosetta (Lortz) Brassfield; infant daughter, Diane Gayle Clark; brother-in-law, Bill Martin; husband, Ludon Keeney and son-in law, Thomas Lane.

She is survived by her sister, Lucie Martin of Jamesport, MO; son, Kenneth Clark (Kim) of Blue Springs, MO; two daughters, Terri Lane (Scott) of Independence, MO and Lisa Keeney Burkhart (Steve) of the home, Chilhowee, MO; her grandchildren: Heather Simpson (Michael), Wendy Manser (Micah), Christina Hart (Eddie), Brett Nelson (Brittanie), Bryce Clark (Mary), Alicia Clark (Nick). Caroline Askew (Jeremie), Stephanie Morgan (Brandon); her great grandchildren: Tommy Taylor, Emma, Clyde and Katy Hart; Carlie Simmons, Shana and Savannah LeBouef, Katarina and Mariana Askew, Lexie, Markus, Ian, and Issac Morgan; nieces, Bonnie Collins (Gene) and Barbara Martin; and an innumerable great and great- great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, August 26 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Her service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 27, also at Floral Hills Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Floral Hills East Cemetery, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, MO 64086.
