Essie L. Dobbins

Essie Lena Dobbins, 95, Kansas City North, passed away March 13, 2017 at Smithville Living Center in Smithville, MO. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Saturday, March 18th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday. Burial will be in East Slope Cemetery, Riverside, MO. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Essie was born January 11, 1922 in Wappapello, MO. On February 1, 1942 she married George E. Dobbins. He preceded her in 2013. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Orville, Marvin and Kenneth Melton; and a sister, Opal Paige.

Survivors include 2 sons, George Dobbins, Jr and wife, Alice, and William P. Dobbins and wife, Karen; a brother, Elmore Melton; 5 grandchildren, Russell Dobbins, Suzette Yanders, Kimberly Carney, Deena Barnes and Jason Dobbins; 11 great grandchildren, Amber Dobbins, Megan Yanders , Autumn Dobbins, Rachel Yanders, Daytona Lutz-Dobbins, Anya Dobbins, Jadon Dobbins, Zachary Yanders, Jeremiah Dobbins, Mya Carney, and Gracen Carney; 3 step-great grandchildren, Reva Carney, Michaela Carney, and Emily Carney; and a great great granddaughter, Lily Densmore.
