Ernest Williams

Ernest was educated in the Alabama and New York State Public School Districts and furthered his college education in Buffalo, New York receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1975. Ernest received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University, Kansas City, MO in 1997. He taught reading in South Carolina for ten years then relocated back to Kansas City where he began a career in Public Health Services of nearly 35 years. During this time, he also worked as a Behavioral Health Tech for the St Luke’s Health System. Retiring from Public Health Service in 2014, he continued working part-time for the St Luke’s Health System as a Patient Transporter.

Ernest enjoyed the friendship of friends he chose to make his family in Kansas City. Their friendship, love and concern aided him through the latter years of his life. Many thanks to Andrea Flowers, Linda Myles, Sherbert Harvey, Stephanie D. Ross, Ethel Nave and host of others who surrounded him with love as they were his “chosen family”.

Ernest was guided, protected and loved by a host of guardians as he navigated his youth, adolescence and adulthood. His guardians were key players in his accomplishments and successes. They provided the structure and framework for his life. He was very appreciative of their unyielding guidance.

Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a beloved grandfather, Hugh Wilson Talley and a devoted second mother, Mrs. Carrie T. Craig. He leaves to cherish his memory: a grandson, a host of chosen family members, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held July 18, 2020 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133. Visitation 10:00 A.M. - Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M.
