Bud graduated from Maur Hill Academy, and he attended Benedictine College where he played football. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for several decades as a machinist at the Bannister federal complex, known as Allied Signal and Bendix/Honeywell, where he retired. He also worked at Gasket Engineering for five years.
Bud cared about his Catholic faith deeply. Bud was active in the Knights of Columbus and became a fourth degree Knight. Bud often attended daily Mass at St. Regis in Kansas City, Missouri. Bud traveled extensively, and he attended several pilgrimages including to the Holy Land and Lourdes, France. Bud sponsored Unbound Child, which gave a needy child many years of free education. Bud volunteered to take food for the needy to Harvesters.
Bud loved fishing and gardening, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals games.
Bud is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over fifty years, Dorothy “Dottie,” his parents Gerhardt and Genevieve, his sister Eleanor, his brother Bernard, his brother Larry, and his infant twin sisters.
Bud is survived by his youngest brother, Jerome. Bud is also survived by his three children: Mark (Tina),
Peggy (Chuck Owen), and Nancy (Donal Crawford). Bud also had many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mark married Tina and had four children: Kelly Seeger, Mike Seeger, Molly Seeger, and Shannon Seeger.
Peggy married Chuck Owen and had four children: Chas Owen, Tyler Owen, Jessica Owen, and Brett Owen. Chas married Heather, and they have two girls: Emma and Lillian Owen.
Nancy married Donal Crawford and raised Zoe Flaspohler.
The Holy Rosary will be at 9 AM with visitation following until 11 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at St. John Francis Regis Church, 8941 James A Reed Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM at St. Regis. Lunch will be served after mass, please join us. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 3:00 in Atchison, Kansas.
