E. Charlene (Cully) Simpson, age 84, of Kansas City, MO passed away January 14, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones. Charlene was born in Humansville, MO to Glenn and Ella (Brumback) Cully and was one of ten children.
Charlene grew up in Humansville, MO and moved to Kansas City, MO after graduating from Humansville High School in 1954 at the age of 16. Charlene moved to and worked in Kansas City before meeting and then marrying Seth Douglas (Doug) Simpson on April 1, 1962. Doug’s career with the railroad took them to Nebraska and many locations in Iowa before returning to Kansas City in August of 1983. During that time Charlene focused on home and family, raising 2 children. Charlene had many passions in her lifetime, she loved taking day trips with Doug, she enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a bird watcher, dog and cat lover, a sports fan, weather enthusiast, an avid reader, and most of all her grandchildren’s greatest supporter. She attended every event her grandchildren were a part of, whether it be athletics, academics, or the arts. She loved interacting, communicating with, and staying connected to her grandchildren thru social media.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Charlene is survived by a sister Corale Altman, brother Jim Cully, daughter Julie Miller, her husband Rob, son Stuart Douglas Simpson, his wife Stacy. Five grandchildren, Will Miller, Ben Miller, Sara Simpson, Sami Simpson, and Seth Simpson and one great-grandchild, Lily Miller.
