Edna was born on November 5, 1924 in Kansas City, Kansas to George and Bessie Klamm. She attended Vance Elementary School and graduated from Washington High School in 1943. After high school, Edna worked for North American Aircraft in Fairfax, Kansas as Rosie the Riveter, building B25 bombers. When the war ended, she went to work for TWA. In October 1946 she married Bob Cannavan and they moved to Tonganoxie, Kansas. After moving back to Kansas City, Kansas, Edna went to work for International Harvester, where she worked for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Edna had resided in the Kansas City Northland since 1961. Edna and Bob have two children, Pat and Pam who remember her as a kind, gentle and loving mother who was an amazing cook and always welcomed family and friends in their home. Edna loved to bowl, play the piano, and do daily crossword puzzles. She enjoyed doing ceramics, crocheting and knitting. She was an active member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, where she belonged to St. Margaret's Circle of the Altar Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Bessie Klamm; brother Don Klamm; and her husband Bob Cannavan.
Edna is survived by her brother Dick Klamm (Hastings, NE); son and daughter in law Pat and Ann Cannavan; daughter Pam Cannavan; grandchildren Kelly and Kent Bjork and Brian and Meghan Cannavan; great grandchildren Dominic Bjork, Colin and Kiera Cannavan.
Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 am on Thursday September 5th at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church followed by Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Edna was a pet lover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Wayside Waifs.
The family would like to thank her care providers at Northland Rehabilitation and Kansas City Hospice.
