Dorothy L. Van Horn, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 10, 1927, in Sanford, FL to William C Hand and Janie E (Charles) Hand. She married Jack T Van Horn June 1, 1952, in Osawatomie KS. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1993. She worked many years for the Kansas City School District as head of the bakery department. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, quilter and most of all mother, grandmother, great grandmother and person. She loved her family and always put them first. She always had the best advice for all of us and we could always count on her. She is survived by her children, Jeffery L Van Horn & Janet E Pickering, her grandchildren, Jeffery L Van Horn, Cassandra L Van Horn, Alexander C Van Horn, Kenton W Pickering & Chesley Pickering Bauer, and her great grandchildren, Cain Van Horn & Penelope Van Horn.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
