Dixie was born July 2, 1927 in Kansas City, Mo. where she lived until moving to Bartlesville, Ok. to be closer to family. She graduated from North Kansas City High School and went to business school for secretary and shorthand.
On June 15, 1947, she married F. Raymond Breibeck not long after his service in the Navy and Trans World Airlines (TWA). Dixie worked as a secretary until son was born in 1950. Raymond continued his career at TWA as a Lead Electric Mechanic until his retirement. Dixie was a mom and wife in the early years of marriage. Always getting up around 4:30 to prepare breakfast and lunch pail for Raymond who started work at 6.
The family was active at First Baptist Church in the early years until the church started a new church called Northgate Baptist. They were founding members and Dixie remained a member all her life. When the church needed a secretary, Dixie volunteered for many years before the church actually gave her a salary. She even printed the Sunday bulletins in her basement. Her heart was devoted to God and family. After many years at Northgate she spent twenty years as administrative secretary to the dean at Midwestern Theological Seminary. But this was not her greatest accomplishment. Dixie volunteered at North Kansas City Hospital, Good Shepherd, and Nearly New Thrift Store for many years. Her countless hours at the hospital were equivalent to working full time for 15 years. She received many awards for her volunteer work.
The family was always on the go visiting parents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. Several family trips were to the beach, the mountains, Disneyland, Washington DC, and all parts of Missouri. Raymond and Dixie did a trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land.
Dixie was an excellent quilter and sewer and made many clothes and Halloween costumes. Dixie would host family for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other gatherings for over 20 members. Her table decorations were elaborate. The strawberry Jell-o with cream topping, monkey bread, pies, and chocolate cookies were the best. At Christmas, she always wrapped presents so beautifully.
Dixie was a beloved wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She was very giving and believed it was better to give than to receive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Breibeck. She is survived by her son, David (Tracy) Breibeck; grandchildren Tiffany (Chase) Robinson, Bret (Mayra) Breibeck and Krystle (Eric) Sullivan; and great grandchildren Lillian Robinson, Olyvia and Henley Sullivan, Ethan, Camila, and soon to arrive Briggs Breibeck all in NE Oklahoma area.
