Deloris “Dee” O. Konwin (Carneal), 87, passed away April 4, 2016 at the Raymore Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. Deloris was born in Humansville, MO., on May 4, 1928. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim, of 50 years; parents, Clem Carneal and Velma Velten; daughter, Sandra Blevins, and son, Eron Freisner. She is survived by her children, Sharon Meador; Steven Freisner and Lana Ridinger-Warner, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Deloris grew up as an only child in a small Missouri farming community. After finishing 8th grade, she went on to complete her GED, then graduated from the Research Medical Center’s School of Nursing as an LPN, in KCMO. While Jim served in the US Marine Corp, they traveled and lived in Arizona, California, Florida, and Hawaii, until his veteran retirement. She especially enjoyed living in Hawaii, sightseeing and touring the island in her Hawaiian moo-moos. They settled and made their home in Belton, MO for 30+ years. Upon retirement, they enjoyed cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. One of her most memorable adventures was taking a helicopter ride and stepping out on top of a glacier while in Alaska. She enjoyed crafting, creating ceramics, her collection of Goebel Hummels, and country music on her trips to Branson. Mom loved the holidays, especially Christmas and had an abundance of décor. She decorated the house, inside and out and made sure we always had a present under the Christmas tree. She never ate fowl of any kind, so we always had her favorite Honey Baked ham. Also, she made beautiful hand painted ceramic Christmas Nativity sets for each of her kids to enjoy though the years. She loved her doggies, Benji, Duchess, Rocky, Lady, TooToo, Pepper, Sashie, and most recently, Sushi. They were her 4-legged babies. Deloris gave her life to Jesus Christ and is now resting in peace until he returns. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be left at www.floralhillsfuneralhome.com.
