Delores H. Kobler, 101, passed away on January 21, 2022. She was born on January 14, 1921 in Iberia, Missouri. Her childhood home was on a farm where they raised animals, grew vegetables, and had a fruit tree orchard.
She retired from the IRS in the Microfilm and Notice Review Department where she had worked at for 13 years. She also worked at the Missouri Pacific Railroad in the telegraph office from 1951 to 1960.
She met her first husband, Lester Hurley, at the age of 16. They married on June 3, 1939. Together they had three beautiful children: Linda, Patricia and Kenny. She married her second husband, Dale Kobler, at the age of 42. During that marriage, she was blessed by the birth of another daughter, Lorie.
After retirement, she enjoyed going to lunch and shows with her two best friends. She loved and treasured her home, spending time with her grandkids, cooking, driving her car around town, and seeing her children. She loved to listen to oldies and country music and eat sweets!
She was ALWAYS intentional about being optimistic. She giggled constantly and delighted in the simple pleasures of life: a beautiful flower, a warm hug, a children’s nursery rhyme, a McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries, or a baseball game.
Many people describe her as a “hoot”, a “character”, and a “ball of fire.” While she insisted on looking on the bright side of things and not taking anything too seriously, she was not afraid to speak her mind when it needed to be done! She had strong emotions just like her granddaughter and great granddaughter!
She always wanted to make sure everyone else was taken care of before herself even until the last days of her precious journey on Earth. She was humble and wanted her family to be well cared for. She NEVER complained.
She was resilient in every way possible. Some may say she lived a ‘simple’ life. Simple is defined as something that is easily understood and uncomplicated in form. God calls us to simply love one another (John 15:17). Maybe, just maybe, that’s why she was able to grace us with her presence for 101 long, beautiful, and precious years.
She was grateful for all she had.
Delores was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Fern McDaniel; brother, Charles Robert McDaniel; mother, Opal Ida McDaniel; father, Henry Clay McDaniel; daughter, Linda Anderson; daughter, Patricia Albertson son-in-law, Norman Anderson; and granddaughter, Trudy Anderson.
She is survived by two children, Kenny and Lorie; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
