Chris graduated from O’Hara High School. After school, he had a few jobs before he, in 1985, found the career he loved with the Kansas City Fire Department. He was promoted to Fire Apparatus Operator in 1993. He loved Pumper 10, the Peace Train, and hung up his helmet for a fishing rod when he retired in 2016.
When he was not working, he loved spending time at the Lake of the Ozark's with family and friends, and jet skiing with his son (after a few attempts at finding a working used jet ski. He eventually found it.)
When he retired, he spent his time looking for the perfect fishing spot and going to Restore to get scrap wood for all of the beautiful cutting boards, boxes, and other amazing wood pieces he created.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother, Mary, brother, Mark, nephew, Alex, and dog, Lou. He is survived by his wife, Susan, his son, Joe Mike, his father, Marion, his brother, Pete, his sister, Kim, and her husband Anthony, as well as many nieces and nephews. You will be missed by many!
A public funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 2nd at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KU Burn Center.
