Christine Jones Logan passed away on April 23rd, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Christine was born on August 14th, 1928 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born to Alma Mae Dent and Leroy Keys. Both preceded her in death. Christine was the middle of three children; one sister, Luevenia Odessia Mae Toliver (deceased) and one brother, James Harper.
In Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on January 26, 1947, she gave birth to Alma Marie Stanfield with Walter Standfield.
In Kansas City, Missouri on November 12, 1953, she married John Lee Logan. Carlton Keith Logan was born into this union on January 25th, 1962.
Christine work career included work at Hal’s Beauty Salon for many years as a housekeeper. She also did beautician work out of her home for several years. And also worked at Adler’s Beauty Salon. Over several years, she worked in various other beauty salons, including in her daughter’s salon, Marie’s Beauty Salon. The last part of her working career was providing domestic work in private homes.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Christine had accepted the Lord as her Savior and began her lifelong work of faith. She began doing the Lord’s work in teaching and by example. She was a member of Martin Temple Church of God in Christ for over 60 years. Under the leadership of Elder Lilbon Clark Sr., then, Elder Lee Criswell, she held many positions in the church.
During her time there, she was Usher Board President and Hospitality President. At the time of her passing, her last position was Church Mother.
Christine Logan was a mother to many. She provided an excellent example of holiness through her life. She encouraged everyone she met with her words, her kindness and her smile. The light of Christ shined in everything she did. She brought glory to His kingdom while on Earth and produced fruits... and is now enjoying the treasures she built up in heaven. She leaves a legacy of Godly wisdom, knowledge, love, joy, endurance, perseverance and tenacity.
Christine is survived by her husband, John Lee Logan; her brother, James Harper; her daughter, Alma Marie Oakley; her son, Carlton K. Logan; her son-in-law, Marvin Oakley; her grandson, Michael Oakley, her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
