Brenda Kay Brown was born on February 28, 1939 to Barbara Louise Teasdale Brown and Lawrence Bert Brown in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas earning a BA degree in art in 1961. She then attended UMKC, earning a degree in Medical Technology In 1965. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Scientists (ASCLS).
Brenda worked at Menorah Medical Center as Chemistry Supervisor, Lakeside Hospital as Chemistry Supervisor and Laboratory Manager, and Cabot Westside Clinic as Laboratory Director.
Brenda loved interior decorating and her house was featured in the "Star Home" section of the Kansas City Star In 1988. She loved computers and technology, cooking, crossword puzzles in ink, and animals.
Brenda is a member of First Baptist Church of Kansas City where she served as a deacon, on the Red Bridge Food Bank, and worked in the Sound Room operating the Power Point for each worship service. Until the church closed, Brenda was an active deacon and member of Red Bridge Christian Church.
She leaves Eva Koontz, who is her companion and friend for 40 years, and her two adored cats, Toby and Lucy.
Services and burial will be held at Mount Moriah Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, visitation at noon and the funeral is at 1:00 pm.
