Bonnie was born on August 23rd, 1928 in Redkey, Indiana to Harry and Mary Evelyn Smith.
Bonnie met Ray while she was working in a medical clinic and he was being treated for a minor work injury. They married shortly thereafter and enjoyed 34 years of marriage until his passing in 1998. Bonnie was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and then worked at Maple Valley School for the severely disabled as a teacher’s aide until her first granddaughter was born. Bonnie was so excited to help with the new baby she quit working to care for Allison 4 days a week.
Bonnie loved to watch college basketball (especially Indiana and KU) and going to live musical performances, but her greatest love was being with her family. She was always so excited to spend time with her kids and grandkids, her love was never ending. Even as dementia took her ability to remember daily events, her eyes would light up when she was around her family.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mary Evelyn, her husband Ray, and her brother Harmon Smith. She is survived by her son Ray and daughter-in-law Ann, granddaughters Allison, Samantha, Mary and Elizabeth, her daughter Robin and son-in-law Alfredo and grandson Marcus.
