Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Brotemarkle Luehrman was born on November 29, 1932, to Robert and Alice Brotemarkle of Kansas City, Missouri. She and her older brother, Bob, both graduated from Northeast High School. After high school, Betty moved with her parents to Mission, Kansas and gained employment with Prudential Life Insurance Company working as a clerk for 10 years. Along with her parents and brother, she was a member of Bales Baptist Church.
In 1963, Betty met and married the love of her life, August W. “Bill” Luehrman. Not long after their marriage, Betty gave birth to their only child, Donna Sue and enjoyed being a full-time mother and homemaker. She was an active P.T.A. member and volunteered in the school library. Betty was also an accomplished bowler participating in league bowling for 30 years and left many trophies to show for her efforts.
As a couple, Betty and Bill enjoyed watching sports together and she continued to do so even after Bill had passed away. She was a faithful fan of the KU, Chiefs and Royals teams. She really enjoyed opportunities of attending Royals baseball games with Donna.
In more recent times, Betty was an active resident at the senior communities in which she resided. She loved all things chocolate, playing bingo, walking, working search-word puzzles, and socializing with her girlfriends. Her biggest joy was spending time with Donna and her grand-dog, Honey.
On December 10, 2021, Betty joined her heavenly family after battling skin cancer. The family gives many thanks to Silvercrest at College View and Ascend Hospice for helping Betty cope with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor, laughter, and bringing joy to all those around her.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna, who resides in Overland Park.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Skin Cancer Foundation at www.skincancer.org.
