Betty Ruth Jones

She was born on November 28, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Lewis and Ruby Yates. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Betty was married to Gilbert A. Jones for 59 years with whom she shared a loving and devoted marriage. She was the proud mother of two daughters, Pamela Lynn Harper, spouse Clint Harper, and Sherri Denise Jones, spouse Richard Cox. Betty’s family was the center of her life, and she was especially fond of spending time with her five grandchildren: Shannon Fortenberry, Andy Harper, spouse Sherri Harper, Jenny Sullins, spouse Vance Sullins, Amber Jones, and Shelley Jones, as well as her great-grandchildren Maddie, Tori, Clint, Hannah, Grant, Emma, Tyler, Zoey, Jacy, and Eli.

Known for her joyful and spirited personality, Betty was always ornery with a smile on her face. She was a woman who loved life, and her enthusiasm was contagious. Betty had many interests that brought her joy, including fishing, painting, playing music, and working with her scroll saw. She was passionate about creating beautiful pieces with her crafts, often having multiple projects going at once. Whether it was painting, woodworking, or any other craft, Betty found peace and satisfaction in expressing her creativity. She was also an accomplished cook, always eager to share a meal with those she loved.

Betty was a bright light to her family and friends, and her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will be cherished forever. Her warmth and infectious smile will be missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home Thursday November 14 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm prior to the service. Burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.

Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Harper and husband Gilbert Jones. She is survived by her daughter Sherri Denise Jones, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
