Angelo Garcia

Angelo is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Enriqueta (Ketta) Garcia; 3 children, John (Maria), Damian (Jeanna), and Audrey Kerns (David); 13 grandchildren, Damian II (Tiffany), Patrick (Molly), Matthew, Eric, Melissa (Casey), John James, Mary (John), Kristin, and Geoffrey; 5 great-grandchildren, Ian (Damian III), Emma, Remy, Ayden, and Avery; 5 brothers, John, Tony, Richard, Bobby Espino and Frank Garcia; and many other relatives and friends, including Kris Hennessy, "The Boss". He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Gutierrez, Margaret Mendoza and brother, Lalo Espino.

Angelo was born on August 3, 1928 to Mary and John Espino in East St. Louis, Illinois, but grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He lived in Kansas City for the duration of his life. At the age of 17, he served in the United States Navy. In 1950, Angelo met and married Enriqueta Garcia (Panuco), his wife of 63 years. He was employed at Kansas City Terminal Railway for 42 years, holding various positions, but ended his career as a foreman. In retirement, he enjoyed spending his days sitting on his porch, looking after his neighborhood and helping Ketta cook Mexican dinners for his family every Sunday.

Family was at the center of everything for Angelo. He was always the consummate host, inviting you into his home with open arms always wanting to make sure you weren't hungry and had something to drink. Consider yourself lucky if you were ever able to attend one of his Fourth of July parties - they were some of the craziest and most fun parties of the year. Angelo was a storyteller, who didn't know a stranger, and if he wasn't bragging to you about his grandkids, he was asking you for a few lottery numbers for his weekly picks. He set an example of what it means to be a good man, not by his words, but by his actions. He will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, resourcefulness, eternal optimism, his love of his Mexican culture, and his abiding faith in God. Angelo was a member of Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Catholic Church, and was also a member of the Holy Name

Society.

On Friday, May 10th, the visitation, rosary and Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, rosary at 11:30 am and Mass at 12:00 pm.
