Born February 9, 1926, in Chicago, IL, was daughter to the late Michael and Angelina (nee Trotta) Rubino and was preceded in death by her siblings Joe, Mike, John, Rose and Dora.
Lee attended St. Thomas the Apostle High School and started her working career at RR Donnelly where she met her first husband Amos Roy Alford, and father to their three children. Roy printed National Geographic and Lee a cashier in the cafeteria. As she told it, she could never get his attention. So, Lee devised a plan to “short change” him till he did, and it worked! They moved to the suburbs to raise their children but always remained in close proximity to family, seeing her mother and Aunt Dora daily. Weekends were spent in marathon pinochle nights with Aunt Rose and Uncle Mike, family barbeques or just friendly get togethers and in the winter, ice skating in the backyard rink.
Lee retired from Acorn Corrugated Box Company (for the 2nd time) in January, 1994. She met Grandpa Ron while working at Acorn Box and he at Pride Container. It was a great match made in the corrugated box business. They had a beautiful marriage (1979-1997) and a great love and respect for each other until Grandpa passed in April 1997.
