Angela Christine Ruiz

Angela Christine Ruiz, was born October 28th 1965 in Kansas City, Mo. Our mother grew up in Kansas City on the Westside. Growing up she had her mother, Virginia Martinez-Crowe and her father, Henry Ruiz. She was the oldest of the 6 kids her parents had. Her siblings included Henry Ruiz, Robert Ruiz, Michael Ruiz, Tania Denize Ruiz, and her half-sister, Kira Ruiz. Mom also had three additional step-brothers as well, Rudy Reyes, Caesar Reyes, and Mikey Reyes. She loved taking care of them and teaching them all she knew. Angela growing up went to Our Lady of Sacred Heart elementary, then went to Our lady of Guadalupe Middle School. She then ended up going to a couple different schools before ended up at North Kansas City High School for a few years and then went to West High School, home of the Wolverines. She played all the sports growing up such as Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Softball, Jiu-Jitsu, and Dancing. She was an athlete her whole life, but she really loved dancing. Whether it was with others or even if she had to dance by herself, she was constantly doing it.

Our mom told us of how she grew up always being at her grandma Mary’s house, somewhere where she loved to be. Learning to cook and be the strong independent women she became. She always looked up to Grandma Mary and learned a lot of what she knew from her and the women in her life. She carried those traditions and knowledge down to everyone she knew. Angela at the age of 16 married Mark Blake August 7th,1982 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, and soon after started their family. Our parents had 11 beautiful children together. Valerie, Christopher, Jennifer, Thomas, Veronica, Michelle, Catherine, Maria, James, Dominique, and Alexandria. Our mother instilled all her hopes and dreams into us kids. She looked at us like we could do no wrong and loved us fiercely with all she had. Always our motivator and breathe of fresh air. She was superwomen and was always there at all of our games, never seemed like she missed any of them. She was always so proud of us kids and always made sure to let us know, and always knew when we needed to hear it the most. She was a friend to all and never had a bad bone in her body. Always caring and treated everyone fairly. She has made a legacy for herself that we will carry on for her. She is also lived on through our kids, her grandkids. Our mother has 23 grandchildren, one on the way and one great grandchild. She always included all of our kids, blood or not. She treated all like family and loved unconditionally and that's something we will never forget. We will miss your smile, your laugh, your uplifting and supportive advice, and lastly your infectious hugs. You left some big shoes to fill, but we’ll make you proud and we hope you’re dancing the night away with Grandma Jovita. Never a goodbye, just a see you later. Rest in Heaven.

A Visitation will be held the evening of Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64118. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2544 Madison Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64108.
