Allan was born on Sept. 3, 1925 in KC, MO to John & Essie Beauchamp. He graduated from Southwest High School and attended University of Kansas City (currently UMKC). In September of 1943, at the age of 18, Allan enlisted in the Army Air Force to serve in WWII. Following the war, he completed his enlistment with the Reserve until he was released in 1949. After his service he moved to Pensacola FL. to work and have some fun in the sun. He returned to Kanas City in the early 50’s and began working for Atlas Van Lines - McCormick Payton Storage and Moving, where he worked tirelessly for over 60 years.
March 23, 1963, he married Marlene Lawnick, in Denver, CO. This past March they celebrated their 57th anniversary. After a short stay in Prairie Village, KS, in 1966 they moved to Leawood KS, where he resided up to his death.
Allan’s favorite hobby by far was golf, he would play any opportunity he could, and was a member of Brookridge County Club for many years. He was particularly proud of his two hole-in one shots within the same week at Brookridge Country Club. With the help of senior tees and his age he even shot his age on a few occasions. Most recently, three weeks ago he shot a 94! Woodworking, skiing (into his 80’s), bridge, gin rummy and movies, particularly the old ones, were the activities that filled his days. He had a sharp mind and a knack with numbers, recently completing his 2019 tax return by hand (who does that anymore?). Just this past March he built a curbside “Little Library”, which was placed between their home and their neighbors. He enjoyed conversation, along with happy hour before dinner. Many will remember Allan’s ornery smile along with that twinkle and wink of his eye.
Preceded in death by his parents John Owen Beauchamp and Essie Howell Beauchamp, and brother John (Jackie) Beauchamp Jr., who died in combat during WWII.
He is survived by his wife Marlene; son Allan (Howie) Howell Beauchamp Jr. & spouse Lesa, Wichita KS; granddaughter Madison Beauchamp, Manhattan KS; granddaughter Bailey Beauchamp, Goddard KS; sister Sally Crowley & spouse Bob, Lake Placid, NY; Nephew Jeff Crowley & spouse Alicia, Perish FL; niece Jennifer Crowley, Canton MA; sister-in-law Ann Lawnick Warner, Boise, ID, nephew Andy Warner & spouse Liz, Littleton, CO; niece Jenifer Warner Southard & spouse Drew, Boise, ID.
Allan’s cremated remains will be laid to rest at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, with accompanying memorial service. Date to be determined. Friends and family are welcome.
