She was the oldest of a family of seven children, four brothers and three sisters. She attended rural grade schools and graduated from Concordia Catholic High School in 1950. Following graduation she worked as a nurses’ aide at St. Joseph Hospital.
In 1952 Alice married Lieutenant Fred Lowell of Concordia and joined him in El Paso, Texas for his two years military service during the Korean War. In 1954 the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where they spent more than 63 years of their married life. During these many years Alice worked continuously in retail as a salesperson and assistant manager for a variety of businesses including Merchants Credit Bureau, Adlers, North Hills Bank, Rod’s Hallmark, Restored Images and Christopher & Banks. She was well known for her warm personality and for always being there with a helping hand in her neighborhood of more than 50 years.
Throughout her life Alice was a dedicated Catholic, a longtime member of St. Gabriel parish, and active in the church and St. Gabriel’s school when her children were of school age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; three brothers, Jim, Don and Gary Bogart.
She is survived by her son Bryan; her daughter Lori, both of Kansas City; two sisters, Carolyn Thomason, Gallup, NM and Sheryl Tice and husband Leland, Mankato, KS; a brother, David Bogart and wife Linda; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Bogart, of Concordia & many nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas with Fr. David Metz officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. Concordia Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Sisters of Sisters of St. Joseph, Nazareth Convent, Concordia, KS.
