Bob was born April 27, 1931 at Herington, Kansas and died January 2, 2022.
Bob attended school in Herington until his family moved to Kansas City when he was in the 11th grade. Bob enlisted in the Army when he was 17 years old and retired at the age of 37 as a Chief Warrant Officer.
Bob met the love of his life, Jean, while he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and they were married May 5, 1957. Their oldest child was born at Fort Sill and the two youngest were born at Wurzburg Germany while Bob was stationed in the Army.
After Bob retired from the Army the family moved to Kansas City where Bob started his second career with the Social Security Administration. He quickly rose from Benefit Authorizer to Module Manager. He and Jean both retired from Social Security in November 1990. They traveled a lot the first few years of retirement, but in later years Bob spent his time bowling, golfing, playing Bingo, playing cards and dominos with friends, and reading western books.
Bob and Jean lived in Kansas City, Kansas from 1970 until 2020, when they moved to Addington Place of Shoal Creek in Kansas City, Missouri to be near their daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Buckman; son, Bob (Cindy) Buckman, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Lisa (Rex) Ruth of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Joe (Beth) Buckman of Clermont, Florida. Also surviving is a sister, Margaret Crain of Kearney, Missouri; two granddaughters; two grandsons; two great granddaughters; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in passing by his parents, Joseph and Leah Buckman.

A gathering of friends & family will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 15th, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, followed by a celebration of Bob's life at 11 a.m.
