Mary Lee (Taylor) Moody, 97, born September 6, 1921 in Holt County, Missouri passed away on January 8, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens.
Mary was born in Clay Township in Holt County, Missouri on September 6, 1921 to William Benjamin Taylor, who was a farmer, and Lettie Celestia Williams. She was the youngest of eight children.
Mary graduated from Mound City High School on May 15, 1940. Seven days later she and Marvin Martin Moody were married on May 22, 1940.
They lived in Kansas City, Kansas where Marvin was a switchman for the Rock Island Railroad. Mary worked at Cambell's Hat Shop and then at KU Medical Center as a medical clerk.
They had two children. James Marvin Moody was born on August 31, 1941, and Janet Ellen (Moody) Welch was born on October 31, 1944.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marvin Moody; her son James Moody; her daughter Janet (Moody) Welch and son-in-law Phil Welch; and her two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Hendricks, her daughter-in-law Sandy Moody, her four grandsons Philip Welch, Doug Welch, Steven Moody, and Blake Moody, and her granddaughter Rachel Moody, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
