Loran was born September 5, 1922 to Riley and Lydia Thomas in Laclede County, Missouri. At the age of 20, he joined the US Army where he served his country faithfully during WWII in New Guinea. Upon returning to the US, Loran met and married the love of his life Norma Lee Mills.
Loran was a dedicated employee of General Motors. After 32 years at GM, he returned to his roots of farming in Tonganoxie. His passions were farming, serving in his church and local community.
Loran was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Norma Lee Thomas. He is survived by their three daughters, Paula Mathia of Conroe, TX, Pat Pallo and her husband Mark of Independence, MO, and Peggy Bish and her husband David of Cypress, TX; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of Loran’s life will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Tonganoxie Christian Church, 204 Washington Street, Tonganoxie, Kansas 66086. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. preceding the service at the church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town.
