Leonard D. “Lenny” Cain, 72, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House. A gathering of family and friends in celebration of his life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. The family requests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House.
Lenny was born July 16, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to William L. and Blanche M. Cain. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life and was a member of Teamster’s Local 41. Lenny worked for Chief Freight Lines and Rensen House of Lights for many years and retired in the late 1990s. He loved music and could play almost any instrument without needing any sheet music. His family loved how he would whistle all throughout the day. Lenny enjoyed coin collecting and he was always adding to his record collection. He worked on cars and loved his family more than anything.
Lenny is preceded in death by his parents, William L. Cain, Sr. and Blanche M. Cain, his sisters Virginia Gower and Gloria Langton and his brother Wayne Cain.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie Clark and husband Damon of Lansing, Kansas and their son Damon Hunter Clark; his step-children Connie Phelps and husband Jack of McClouth, Kansas; Jerry Burtlow of Pasadena, Texas; Don Burtlow of Pasadena, Texas; Sharon Martinez of Pasadena, Texas; his siblings William L. Cain, Jr. and wife Dora of Wellsville, Kansas; Frances Stone of Kansas City, Kansas; Gail Bush of Kansas City, Kansas; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one beloved pet, Shelly.
