Leo “Gene” Harris, 52, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on July 25th, 2019 at his home. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 2nd from 5:00-7:00 pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00 am at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Gene was born in Kansas City Kansas on May 22nd 1967. He attended Washington High School with the Class of 1985. He spent most of his career as a supervisor of Quality Control and Production in the printing industry. However, Gene’s true passion was coaching girls competitive fastpitch softball, which he did for 20 plus years. He also managed to squeeze in some downtime which was filled with gardening, cooking and "10k or more" walks with his children.
Gene was one of the biggest KU Jayhawk fans and went out of his way to be decked out from head to toe in blue and red whenever crossing the state line.
Gene is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nicole, his sons, Anthony Harris and Patrick Harris (Jessi), his daughter , Geena Harris, his grandchildren, Alexis Lehmkuhl-Harris, Harlem Harris and Paxton Harris, his mother, Patricia Miller, step-father, Nelson Miller, sister, Tracey Rhoads, brother, Michael Tucker and his "good-looking, midget" little sister, Kimme and several loving friends and family.
