Larry M. Kuhl, 80, of Shawnee, KS, passed away November 11, 2021. A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, November 24th, with a visitation from 10:00-11:00am preceding the service all at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 6422 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, KS 66202. He will be laid to rest at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunflower House, 15440 W 65th St., Shawnee, KS 66217.
Larry was born April 17, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Frank and Frances Kuhl. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Larry met his future wife and love of his life, Mary Dunkin, when they worked for Middle West Motor Freight Bureau. They were married on September 8, 1964. They raised four children, Laura, Lisa, Eric and Monica. Larry coached his son’s soccer team and participated with his son in Scouts and Indian Guides. Spending time with his family was his greatest priority. Larry was a very hard worker but he also enjoyed traveling and watching football. He was a huge Chiefs fan. Larry retired from Fisher Scientifics as a lead shipping clerk.
Larry was very active in the Abdallah Shrine and was President of the Johnson County Shrine Club and President of the Tin Lizzie’s Unit in his Temple. He was also the Former President of the International Order of Foresters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances Kuhl; and his brother, Buddy Kuhl.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Kuhl; his children, Laura Mabary (Paul Jett), Lisa Shryock (Sam), Eric Kuhl, and Monica Cattau (Rob); his grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Tony, James, Joshua, Dustin, Kevin, Jessica, and Charlotte; his great-grandchildren, Mary, Anthony, Ethan, Tabitha, Alexa, Savannah and Sicily, as well as other relatives and friends.
