Karen Lea Wilkey, age 77, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 16, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 12 to 1 PM at Journey Church of Lenexa, 8865 Bourgade St., Lenexa Kansas 66219.
Ms. Wilkey was born November 6, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas. Karen was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School. She then attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. Karen met her late ex-husband, David, in November 1967 and had two wonderful sons. They later divorced in 2008. Karen lived most of her life in Kansas City, Kansas and then later in Lenexa, Kansas.
Karen loved Colorado, traveling a multitude of times with her parents as a child. Her love continued to grow and she explored the Rockies throughout her life. Those adventures nourished her love for the bountiful beauty that Colorado held. Additionally, she dearly loved her three grandchildren and granddaughter-in-law.
Karen is survived by her two sons, Ken and Scott Wilkey, daughters-in-law, Angi and Tanya Wilkey and her three grandchildren, Mitchell, Eric and Logan Wilkey and Mitchell’s wife, Heidi Wilkey.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Dorothy Katz, Brother Wayne Katz and Sister Judy Buckley.
