Judy was born August 17, 1962 in Linwood, California to James and Joyce (Combs) South. She graduated with honors from Turner High School in 1980. Judy worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Thomas Bembynista’s podiatrist office and a variety of other medical offices. She was a member of the West Haven Baptist Church in Tonganoxie and was also a founding member of the Kansas City Science Fiction and Fantasy Society. Judy was an avid reader and she enjoyed spending time on the computer, on Facebook especially. She enjoyed all local sports, especially the Chiefs, Royals and KU Jayhawks. Judy enjoyed traveling and her favorite place in the world was the Uniweep Canyon in Colorado. Her nickname was “Spud” because she absolutely loved potatoes in all their forms. For Judy, though, nothing was more important than her family, she married the love of her life, Ed Moore on August 4, 1984 and doted on her children and her grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Moore on January 16, 2002 and her grandparents, Louie and Ruth South and Jimmie and Laurene Combs.
Judy is survived by her parents James and Joyce South, of the home; children, Ashley Moore of KCK, James Moore of Lenexa; grandson, Asher Chaplin of KCK; siblings, Susan Frye and husband Brian of Sunnyvale, TX, Kenny South of the home and Amy Fogerty and husband Micky of Knob Noster, MO; as well as seven nieces and nephews, three great nieces and nephews and many other friends and family.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of Select Specialty Hospital for their genuinely compassionate and loving care.
