

Jeanne Marie (Van Sittert) Glidewell, 67, of Olathe, Kansas passed away April 17, 2025 at Olathe Hospice House after a courageous battle with gastric cancer. She was born in Ayer, Massachusetts on April 12, 1958.
Jeanne was very creative and shared her talent through her photography and writing. She loved to take pictures of beautiful sunsets and coastal birds and wildlife. She was the author of 18 novels, including two cozy mystery series and had many loyal readers. Jeanne loved to travel and visited numerous countries all around the world. She combined her travel and photography to create unforgettable photos. She was a 2006 Kidney/Pancreas transplant recipient and volunteered as a Life Mentor for the Gift of Life program. She was profoundly grateful for the additional 19 years of life her transplant gave her.
Jeanne met the love of her life, Bob, when she was a bridge inspector for the State of Kansas. She was also a supervisor at the United States Post Office. Jeanne and Bob owned AB Camping RV Park in Cheyenne, WY for many years. Due to their love of fishing and coastal outdoor life, they spent many winters in Rockport, Texas until they made their permanent home there. Upon her cancer diagnosis, they relocated back to Kansas to be near family. Jeanne was a 1976 graduate of De Soto, Kansas Senior High School and a 1978 graduate of Johnson County Community College.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Van Sittert Jr. and Carol Van Sittert York; her grandparents Joseph (Sr.) and Mary Van Sittert and Clarence and Adelaide Hallberg; her in-laws Jack and Ruth Glidewell and her grandson, Caleb Garrison.
Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, Robert Glidewell; her sister, Sarah (Bruce) Goodman; her step-daughters Roxanne (Justin) Keller and Stacey Glidewell; her grandchildren Wyatt Zarda, Seth Reliford, Marissa Vaughn and Dax Keller. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Violet Zarda; niece Kylie (Justin) Moore; nephew Cole (Sarah) Goodman; great nephew Ford Moore and great nieces Maeve Moore, Everly Goodman and Isabelle Goodman. She leaves behind many friends including her lifelong best friend Sheila (Randy) Davis.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 25 at 2:00 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home at 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112.
