James A. “Jim” Slagle, 82, of Olathe, Kansas, passed into Glory on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 20th at The Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Stony Point Christian Church Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family has requested that any donations be may be made to the Countryside Baptist Church Missions Program.
Jim was born December 24, 1931 in Everton, Arkansas, and was a 1951 Graduate of Lee’s Summit High School. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and worked for the United States Postal Service before going to work for General Motors, from where he retired in 1991. Jim was a member of Country Side Baptist Church in Olathe, Kansas and his highly organized personality made him a natural as he served in the Johnson County Civil Defense as a Storm Spotter. He enjoyed listening to classic country music, and reading Louis L’Amour Books.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd & Beatrice Slagle; his brother, Gene Slagle; and his daughter Deann Slagle
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Slagle; his son Tony (Debbie) Slagle; and two grandchildren, Tony Slagle II and Catherine Slagle
