Irene Marie Maderak Miller, a lifelong resident of Kansas City, passed away peacefully early in the morning of March 22, 2022. Born April 13, 1926, she lived a rich full life of nearly 96 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wojciech J. Maderak and Anna Jaskot Maderak; her brother, Thomas Maderak; and her beloved husband of almost 67 years, Harry Miller.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; daughter, Sandra Gudorf (Edward) of Louisville, KY, son, Steven Miller (Diane) of Santa Fe, NM, and daughter, Ann Wiebusch (Ryan) of Lee’s Summit, MO; her brothers, Joseph (Catherine) Maderak of Kansas City, KS and Marion (Catherine) Maderak or Yoder, WY; and many cherished nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Irene was a beautiful woman inside and out. After graduating from Turner High School, she attended business college and was proud to have worked for Sutherland Lumber Company. After her marriage in 1950, she became a devoted wife and mother. She was always first to volunteer for school activities and supported her children’s interests with enthusiasm and creativity. As the children grew, she turned her interest in antiques into a business. “Irene’s Old & Pretties” began at the Westport Antique Mall and provided Irene with many new friends and a little household income as she moved and grew her business over the next 45 years. Irene was a warm, engaging woman of many talents. She lit up every room that she entered and will be forever in the hearts of those that loved her.
A visitation will be from 12-1 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1 pm, Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Harry in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial gifts in Irene's name be made to the contributor's favorite charity.
