Helen Elizabeth Cook

Helen E. Cook, 83, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away June 18, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am, Friday, June 22nd at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, with visitation from 10:00-11:00am preceding the service. The rosary will be prayed at 10:00am. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 1150 North 38th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66102. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic Church Altar Society.

Helen was born October 25, 1934 in Seneca, Kansas to August and Anna Schraad. She graduated and moved to Kansas City in 1953. She worked for Hallmark and Sears & Roebuck for a time, but after marrying the love of her life, Donald E. Cook on April 12, 1958, she focused on her family. Helen was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Liess; and her brothers, Elmer and Eugene Schraad.

Helen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald E. Cook of the home; her sons, David Cook (wife Elizabeth) of Olathe, and Larry Cook of Turner, Kansas; her granddaughters, Natalie Cook of Leavenworth, Kansas, Madeline Cook of Springfield, Missouri, and Alexis Liess of Overland Park, Kansas; her siblings, Francis Schraad and Rita Wempe, both of Seneca, Kansas.
