Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Rev. Dr. Henry R. Moeller, and her 5 children: Rachel Moeller Anglen, Timothy Moeller (Kathy), Nathan Moeller (Elly), Joy Moeller, and Hope Moeller Yamagata (Todd). She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lawrence McCauley and Charles McCauley, and sister, Edith McCauley Crook.
Esther was born April 21, 1926 to the Rev. Lester & Mrs. Ruby (Barker) McCauley in Huntley, MN. Because of the itinerant nature of her father’s profession, the family moved frequently and the mid 30’s found them in Swaledale, Iowa. She graduated from Swaledale High School in 1943. After high school, she attended Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota until W.W. II ended.
While in Swaledale she met Henry R. Moeller whom she married on July 16, 1946. They both continued their college educations at William Jennings Bryan College (now University) in Dayton, Tennessee. Shortly before graduation in 1949, their first child was born and Esther was unable to complete course work for her B.A. degree. She was later awarded an Honorary Degree by the College.
In the fall of 1949 Esther and Henry moved to Kansas City, Kansas where Henry attended Central Baptist Seminary. Esther and Henry became part of the Seminary “family” for the next 35+ years when Henry was offered an Assistant Professorship in 1953.
While her husband taught at the seminary, Esther became involved in the activities of the Faculty Wives, as well as various women’s missionary circles at the Armourdale and Grandview Baptist Churches of which she was a member. Esther loved children and was involved in teaching in the Primary grades of Sunday school at her church, in particular the pre-school and Kindergarten ages. She also gave of her time in the Seminary Day Care Center and briefly operated a small, private childcare service in her home in the late ‘60’s – early ‘70’s. Later on, she worked as an Accounting Clerk for the Central Baptist Seminary Federal Credit Union where she worked until retiring.
