Edward Joseph Herbert

Ed was born on August 14, 1944 in Kansas City, Ks; one of nine children to Maurice and Julia Herbert. Ed graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1962. He went on to work for Commercial National Bank in 1966 and was made an officer of the bank in 1979. He retired from United Missouri Bank in 2005 after 39 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Julia Herbert; his siblings Louis Clark (Lillian), Maureen Eatough (Don), and Catherine Herbert. Ed is survived by his loving wife Janice of 54 years; his children, Dave Herbert (Jana), Steve Herbert (Amparo), Amy Lanham (Kyle); his grandchildren Ryan, Liam, Patrick, Jordan, Sydney, and Trent; his siblings Larry Herbert (Carleen), Vic Herbert (Roberta), Judy Schreiber, Mary Moulin (Ron), and Mike Herbert (Anne).

He was a lifetime parishioner at Christ the King Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Boy Scout Leader, a youth sports coach, an avid bowler, a KC sports fan, an amateur photographer, a great storyteller, and a funny, funny guy.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home; 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Christ the King, 3024 North 53rd Street, Kansas City, KS 66104 with burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the National Kidney Foundation, and/or Crossroads Hospice Care.
