Doris Jean Taylor, 81, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Monday, July 23rd at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation will precede the services from noon-2:00pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contribution are requested to Crossroads Hospice or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Doris was born on March 2, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas to Gordon E. Masters and Katheryn L. (Lindsay) Masters. A Lifelong Kansas City, Resident, Doris Worked for the State of Kansas for many years, first for the Unemployment Office, and then for the Driver’s License Bureau, retiring as an Examiner in 1996. She enjoyed casino games, especially slots, at many local casinos and she especially enjoyed playing Texas Holdem at the Eagles Club on Friday Nights. In earlier years, she and her husband, Robert Taylor ran the Bingo Games at the Eagles Club as well. An avid Royals Fan, Doris loved cheering on her boys in blue nightly, as she watched their games at home, often surrounded by her family, whom she dearly loved. Doris was an especially proud and active Nana to her great grandchildren, who she cared for at home, refusing to let them go to Day Care. She loved baking for her family and friends, and would often be found making her Cinnamon Apples around the holidays. Doris also especially enjoyed traveling, taking many trips and cruises to many destinations far and wide, and she was a member and past Outside Guard of the Eagles Club #87 Axillary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Taylor; her sister, Carolee Babbitt; and her son, Michael Steven Taylor.
Survivors include her daughter, Dena Kirkpatrick and her husband Mark; her son, Jim Taylor and his wife Debbie; her grandson, Bryon White and his wife Kim; her great grandchildren, Taylor White and Jewell White; her sister, Marilyn Gray and her husband Pat; her BFF, Mary Moore; and many other family and friends, including nieces, nephews and cousins.
