Clifton D. Bailey of Kansas City, Kansas passed away at age 88 on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Clifton was born in Long Beach, California on May 11, 1933 to William Davis and Nellie Mae (McLaughlin) Bailey and moved with his parents to Marshall, MO when he was 6 years old to his grandparents farm. He grew up and worked hard on the farm, graduated from high school and continued to work on the family farm a few more years before moving away.
He then worked for a boat manufacturing company in Nebraska and attended college there, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Business. He then moved back to the Kansas City area and worked as a manager for Wyandotte Builders Home Remodeling Company for many years before his retirement.
Clifton enjoyed building bird houses and bird feeders and hanging them to watch the birds. He also enjoyed fishing on weekends and was skilled at working on very large puzzles.
Clifton was a very proud father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Bailey and sister, Cathrine Thomas.
He is survived by his 6 children, William Davis Bailey, Leonard LeRoy Bailey, Doran Lee Bailey, Mayla Lee Moore, Wesley Scott Bailey and John Paul Bailey; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and sisters, Mary Ellen Brown and Joanna Mae Grandbouche.
A visitation for Clifton will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM, both at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Graveside services will be immediately following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th St., Kansas City, KS 66102.
