Christopher Scott Schaffer. Chris was born on February 9, 1980, leaving this earth September 6, 2022, at the age of 42. Chris loved his family, and we loved him so very much. He was a quiet guy until the conversation turned to sports, stats, music, musicians, or most of all, his niece and nephews. His passion was sports and music memorabilia. Working with the Kansas City Royals enabled him to talk with sports figures, and previously working concerts at the Sprint Center, setting up backstage for musicians, made his heart happy. No amount of work was too much. Chris never showed up at anyone’s house without bringing them something, maybe a sweet tea, Pepsi, candy, or something sports related. At Thanksgiving there was always a pumpkin pie devoted to him. Chris was such a bright light to our family. His big heart, big smile and blue eyes are sorely missed.
Chris is survived by his mom and stepdad, Lori and Scott Whitson, dad and stepmom, Terry and Michelle Schaffer. Sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Dave Crowder. Stepbrother, Scott Whitson, and fiancé, Heather Cosgrove. Stepsister and brother-in-law, Brailyn and Michael Medearis, niece, Kenadi Crowder, nephew, Gracen Crowder, nephew, Griffin Medearis. Step-grandparents, Earl and Nancy Whitson and Judy Hampton. Two very special people, Wayne and Betty Allen. Many aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and countless friends.
Chris was predeceased by his grandparents, Doug and Maxine Scott, Albert and Agnes Schaffer, and step grandpa, Boyd Hampton. Sister, Lindsey Schaffer and nephew, Braxton Medearis.
Keep smiling, my son. Nothing else is going on.
