Chauncey Summers, Jr., 69, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at home. A visitation will be held Monday, October 26th from 6-8PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 27th at 10:30AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment with honors will be held at 12:30PM at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road., Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chauncey’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Chauncey was born November 27, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana to Chauncey, Sr. and Donna (Good) Summers. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. Chauncey married Barbara Hall on December 8, 1966 and worked for the United States Postal Service before retirement in 2005. He loved Notre Dame Football and enjoyed fishing and the casino.
Chauncey was preceded in death by his parents, Chauncey Sr. and Donna; brothers, William and Roger Summers. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara of 48 years; sons, Gary Lee (Emily) Summers and Christopher Summers; daughter, Tonya Summers; granddaughters, Jordan Summers, Ashley Summers, and Karlie Jo Summers; grandsons, Brandon Wodrich, Damien Nelson and Isaiah Walters; great-granddaughter, Karmen Thomas; sister, Sharon Arnet as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
