Charles A. Tolman, 89, of KCK, passed away Jan. 11, 2018. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Fri., Jan. 19th at Chapel Hill – Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK 66112. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities Hospice, 9740 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS 66212.
Charles was born March 14, 1928 in Los Angeles, CA to Clyde and Blanche Tolman. He graduated from Wyandotte High School on May 24, 1946 and served in the Navy from 1946-47 in Alaska. He received the WWII Victory Medal for his service. Charles worked for KCP&L for 40 years, building substations. He was a proud Union member of Local #1464. He was married to LaDawn Webb for 42 years before her passing in 2012. Charles was a member of the American Legion and the Quarter Century Club for KCP&L. He enjoyed singing, fishing, hunting, watching the Royals, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Blanche; his wife, LaDawn Webb Tolman; his sister, Beverly Thompson; and his ex-wife, Dorothy Tolman.
Charles is survived by his children, Chuck Tolman (Priscilla) of KCK, Debbie Laundy of Tonganoxie, KS, and John Tolman (Sherryl) of KCK; his step-children, Dennis Webb (Pam) of Knoxville, IA, and Denise Wilcock (David) of Ozark, MO; as well as 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, and other relatives and friends.
