Caroline was born November 26, 1925 in Kansas City, KS and was the first of 3 daughter’s to Niels and Emma Hansen. She grew up in the KCK area and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1943. She went on to study at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1944 to 1947.
After graduating, Caroline accepted a position at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO. When she started with the company the art department had less than 100 people, she worked until 1959 when her first child was born, then took some time off to stay home with her girls. She returned to Hallmark and eventually retired in 1991.
After her retirement Caroline continued to volunteer at multiple organizations around the community. Some of the places she so graciously gave her time to are SM Hospital, Head Start, Ronald McDonald House and Friends of Art at the Nelson Art Gallery. Caroline also worked part time at Noel’s for 12 years doing floral arrangements. She was a long time member of Asbury Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother-in-law, Don. She is survived by her daughters, Amy Black and her husband Gordon and Sally Palin and her husband Greg. Four grandchildren, Riley Black and wife Tara, Talia Black, Emma Palin, and Ian Palin. Two great-grandchildren, Sophia Clark and Jett Black. Two sisters, JoAnn Fleming, Sandra Stephens and husband Bob. 4 Nephews, as well as many friends.
Caroline was a kind, loving, dedicated and beautiful soul, and had one of the purest hearts. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Private Services for Caroline will held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home on December 9th, 2019. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A Celebration of Life Gathering for Friends and Family will be at The Forum at Overland Park, 3501 W. 95th St., Overland Park, KS at 1p.m, December 9, 2019.
