Carl Bether Honeywell, age 92, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members and staff at Kingswood Senior Living on November 9, 2022. He was preceded in death by Walter B. Honeywell (father), Ruth Kyle-Honeywell (mother), Harold Honeywell (brother), Mildred Honeywell-Vogan-Dennis (sister), Pauline Honeywell-Gibson-Selvey (sister), Bruce Alan Honeywell (son), and Ken Walker (stepson).
Carl was a wonderful husband and a great example for his children. Carl is survived by his wife, Betty A. Honeywell of the home, daughter Cynthia “Cyndi” Honeywell-Berry (Dale), son Douglas “Doug” Lee Honeywell (Kathi), Step-son Jerry Walker (Peggy), 4 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Carl grew up in Bonner Springs, Kansas, where he attended the Bonner Springs School District. He and his wife, Betty, were independent residents at Kingswood Senior Living Community in Kansas City, Missouri.
Some of Carl’s hobbies included hunting, woodworking, antique cars, billiards, and removing his wife’s catch from a fish hook, but mostly, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Carl was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge located in Bonner Springs, Kansas, was a deacon at the Edwardsville Christian Church, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Carl enjoyed visiting with neighbors about his family, his career as a lineman for Kansas Power & Light (KP&L), sharing stories about his military experience, dog-sitting for neighbors, and offering packages of gum and candy to the Kingswood staff and friends.
Carl lived life to the fullest. He was not one for complaining, or conflict, and his lot in life was to bring cheer to his family and friends through his compassionate teasing and generous giving. He would do anything for his friends, family, and community, without the need for recognition. Not everyone knew his name, but they knew the kind gentleman with “the bib overalls” – and that’s all it took to put a smile on their face.
Our family is grateful to know that “Dad” is finally at peace, and we would like to thank all of Carl’s friends for the unconditional love and compassion he has received.
