Carl Crockett, Jr, 63, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at his home in Kansas City, KS. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8th at Kansas City Community Church, 5901 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Following Interment Services at Chapel Hill, the Repass for Family will be held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.
Carl was born to Carl Crockett Sr. and Lovetta Crockett on March 7, 1949 in Kansas City, KS (Bethel). He is preceded in death by his father Carl Crockett Sr.; two brothers, Frank E. Crockett, and Tyrone Crockett; two Sisters-in-law, Shirley Crockett and Queen Bradberry; and three Brothers-in-law, Thomas Nelson, Larry Bradberry and Leroy Carroll.
Carl married Laura E. Leveringston on November 5, 1988, but they had been together in all for 33 years. Although they had no children together they both had children from previous unions. His children from his previous union with Gloria Williams include: stepson Jerome L. Williams of Kansas City, KS, LaVon L. Crockett (Von) of Kansas City, KS, Charles A. Crockett (Charlie), Theresa M. Crockett (Tuts) of Kansas City, KS. His step-children in his union with Laura E. Crockett include: Shontail S. Lewis of Kansas City, KS, and Bobby R. Leveringston Sr. of Kansas City, KS.
Carl graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. He owned and operated his own lawn care business and worked in the health care field for many years, caring for the elderly and Alzheimer patients until his health prevented him to continue. His hobbies that he loved were gardening, lawn care, feeding birds and listening to music.
Carl accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. He was blessed to be able to build a relationship with Jesus in his final moments.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Laura E. Crockett; mother, Lovetta Crockett; mother-in-law, Laura M. Leveringston; sons, LaVon L. Crockett, Charles A. Crockett; stepsons, Jerome L. Williams and Bobby R. Leveringston Sr.; daughter, Theresa M. Crockett; stepdaughter, Shontail S. Lewis (Adrian); seven brothers, Calvin, Lloyd, Lawrence (Mary), Rickey (Candace), Davy, Terry and Lynn; six sisters, Deanna Nelson, Doris Ezell (Harold), Beverly Watie (Preston), Phyllis Barbosa (David), Alfreda Wilson (Tommy), Dorothy Johnson; and seven sisters-in-law, Maggie Robinson (Clarence), Bernice Carroll, Columbus (Freda) Leveringston Jr., Vicky Lane, Arlene Holmes (Ralph), Clarasteen Milton and LaRonda Leveringston; as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
