Betty Lou Huggins, 82, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 07, 2012 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 11th at the Armourdale Baptist Church, 700 South Mill Street in Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. The family requests that any contributions be made to Armourdale Baptist Church.
Betty was born April 23, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to John and Irene Cecilia (Gorman) Borgstadt. Moving to Basehor in 1995, and then to Olathe in 2006, Betty was a Lifelong Kansas City Area resident, graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1948. She was a member of Armourdale Baptist, as well as its Ladies’ Group and its Triple M Bible Study Group. Betty was the Office Manager for Tri-State Tank Company for 35 years before her retirement in 1996. She loved reading, working crossword puzzles, watching K. U. Basketball, and she was quite an accomplished seamstress, making most of her daughter’s clothes.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William R. Huggins, Sr. when he passed away in 2000, and her son, William R. Huggins, Jr. when he passed away in 2008.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Klee and her husband Barry of Olathe, Kansas; her son, Mark Huggins of Olathe, Kansas; her daughter-in-law, Hope Huggins of Kansas City, Kansas; 3 grandsons, Caleb Huggins, Nathan Huggins and Ryan Huggins; 2 granddaughters, Betsy Klee and Becca Klee; 1 great-granddaughter, Elyssa Huggins; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
