Teresa will be remembered always by her sons John (Linda) and their children Dina and Ryan, Vince (Cari) and their children Katie Chamberlin (Chad) and Jenny, Nick (Saylor) and his children Joey and Jadelynn and daughter Sina Munegatto (Paolo) and their children Jordan and Kailey and daughter-in-law Carla Dimora. Also left to mourn her passing are her sisters-in-law Rosa Gagliano of Kamloops, Verene Gagliano of Coquitlam, Franca D’Anna of Chicago and Anna Dimora of Siculiana, Italy along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Teresa was born in Siculiana, Sicily, Italy on January 19, 1931. She took a brave step as a young and single woman when she immigrated to Canada in March of 1954 with two of her brothers. They settled in Vancouver and she was soon followed by the love of her life, Giuseppe (Joe) Dimora whom she married on July 30, 1955. Over the next few years they were joined in Vancouver by her parents, the rest of her siblings and four sons. In 1972 she and Joe moved their family to Kamloops where they welcomed their beautiful little girl and spent the remainder of their lives.
Family was the most important thing in Teresa’s life and she instilled strong family values in her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening and had an especially green thumb when it came to plants, both indoors and out. She liked travelling and camping as much as staying home cooking sumptuous meals and doing fabulous baking. The smell of her bread baking could bring the neighbourhood kids around. Whatever was made, there was always enough for the family to take extras home.
Sunday afternoon coffee get-togethers grew over time as in-laws and grandchildren joined the family. It was a great time to be together to talk of current happenings and stories of the old days. These were treasured times that will be greatly missed by her family.
Teresa leaves this life to join her beloved husband of 63 years Giuseppe (Joe), her eldest son Pasquale (Pat), her parents Giovanni & Rosina (DiMaggio) Gagliano, her siblings Rosa LoPresti (Lorenzo), Vince (Marianna), Nick, Alfonso (Giovanna), Assunta (Susie) Indelicato (Paolo) and Domenic. Also, her brothers-in-law Vincenzo (Cenzina) and Alfonso Dimora and Giuseppe D’Anna.
Prayers for Teresa will be recited in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on January 4th at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Rajesh Madtha in the Church on Friday, January 5th at 10:30 a.m., with interment following in the Hillside Mausoleum.
The family would like to extend many thanks to the incredible people & facilities at the amazing Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the hospice on behalf of Teresa would be greatly appreciated.
